Black Labrador Retriever - Large - Young - Male - Dog - Jax

9-8-09 When a black lab mix comes into our shelter, we all groan and say "another black dog" . Most people are not aware of what the rescue world calls "Big Black Dog Syndrome". Big black dogs are the most killed dog in shelters throughout the country, The reason why is not specific--too may black dogs? black dogs don't show up in cages or in pictures? black dogs look mean? it is a mystery but a sad fact that black dogs are hard to adopt. The fact is sadder for those of us in the shelter---when a very nice dog like Jax enters. Jax is about a year old, very friendly to people and our other dogs, very smart and very willing to learn. We will put lots of love and effort into making Jax the great dog he can be, but it will take a person that cares to see past the "big black dog syndrome" to make his life complete. Please come to the shelter and see our new Big Black Dog, Jax. Please save lives by adopting from shelters and rescues and by spaying and neutering your own pets!
